3 WAYS YOU CAN SUPPORT YOUR PLATELETS NATURALLY

Twenty years ago, I was diagnosed with ITP, a rare autoimmune disease.  I fought my way back to health and I've been in remission for 17 years.  As a fellow ITP warrior, I know the million dollar questions is, "Is there anything I can do that will help my platelets!?"
Good News....There is!

1. NUTRITION
GOOD NEWS!! DID YOU KNOW THERE ARE FOODS THAT CAN HELP SUPPORT HEALTHY PLATELETS!?
What we put into our bodies has an immense impact on our health. Hippocrates wisely stated, "Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food." Yet when battling autoimmune disease, my typical American diet full of inflammatory foods like gluten, dairy, and refined sugar was only compounding the problem.

My doctors never addressed nutrition's role, focusing solely on treating symptoms. It wasn't until I eliminated those inflammatory culprits that I realized how terrible I had actually been feeling.

Our bodies have an incredible ability to prevent and reverse disease when we make conscious food choices. By giving our body the nutrients it needs, we can unlock our full vitality. What we consume lays the foundation for our lifelong health and well-being.

Contrary to what you've been told, there ARE foods that can be helpful for platelet health! Some of these are: berries (including goji berries), fatty fish (such as salmon), and leafy greens.

I have a favorite protocol for reducing inflammation that combines nutrition with supplements.  Click for more information on the "11 Day Jumpstart".

2. DITCH TOXINS
EVERYTHING WE PUT *ON* OUR BODY EFFECTS OUR HEALTH!
Every day, we engage in mundane tasks like cleaning our homes and bodies, unaware of the insidious harm we may be causing ourselves. The harsh reality is that the majority of household and personal care products contain ingredients that are detrimental to our health.

Artificial fragrances found in everything from candles to cleaners have been linked to cancer. Sulfates, commonly used in personal care products, can disrupt our delicate hormonal balance. Shockingly, the air quality inside our homes can be as damaging to our lungs as smoking cigarettes!

During my battle with illness, even something as seemingly innocuous as my favorite pumpkin spice scented candle was contributing to my poor health. I wish I had known then that every soap, lotion, perfume, and cosmetic was being absorbed through my skin, and that every cleaning product was being inhaled into my lungs.

I now realize that before I could truly heal, I first had to stop harming myself with the toxic chemicals pervading my daily life. Taking steps to reduce your exposure to these harmful substances is a crucial first step towards reclaiming your vitality.

3. MANAGE STRESS
NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THE IMPORTANCE OF REDUDING STRESS!
I'm convinced the extreme toxic stress I was under triggered the onset of my autoimmune disease. It can become a vicious cycle - stress exacerbates chronic illness, leaving you feeling physically and emotionally depleted, which then causes more worry and stress.

Breaking free from this cycle is crucial. Set boundaries and limit overcommitting to reduce feelings of being overwhelmed. Engage in calming practices like yoga, tai chi, prayer, and meditation. I've found certain essential oils greatly help soothe my body and mind - I use them daily and especially during high-stress situations like doctor visits.

When I was first struggling with my illness, I knew nothing about stress management. Now, I'm constantly adding "tools to my toolbox" for emotional wellness. My newest favorite is walking in nature - science shows spending time amongst trees provides remarkable mental and physical health benefits.

Don't allow stress to sabotage your health any longer. Make self-care a top priority by exploring stress-reducing techniques that resonate with you. Taking control of your stress levels could be the key to unlocking better symptom management and an improved quality of life. Your well-being is worth the investment.
